When I was talking to my PS this morning, I asked her if I would be able to get more than one Elizabeth (at the premiere) because we have more than one club membership. She said that from now on, everything in the store is limited to 5 per person. I guess they learned something from the eBay sellers who go and buy out the store on items that are sold out online.

I don't think it will stop the eBay sellers, but it might at least slow them down if they have to buy 5, then go back and buy 5 more, etc.

Well....it's about time. I'm really glad that AG is doing something about the problem.

Yippee - last year I noticed people on eBay were selling Nellie dolls before they had even received them from the company.

Well, AMEN!! High Time, too, if I do say so! Now if AG would get a bit stricter when it comes to accepting returns....meaning don't accept returns of Halloween costumes AFTER Halloween is over!

Plus it isn't AG's fault if the dog/cat/neighbor kid or whatever ruins something. Children need to be taught to be careful with their things. Accidents do happen however, but that's still not AG's fault.

I've noticed some people on ebay seem to have dozens of sold out things--over 30 Kailey dolls for instance????? In a month, too. Gee whiz, no wonder they sold out so fast. Same goes for Marisol. Same person's had dozens of them too.

I am very disappointed about this decision from American Girl. My family is a large AG family there are some items we buy more than 5 of for our own use. I (when I get Elizabeth) will have three dolls, My mom has three dolls plus the bitty twins, My grandma has Kirsten, my cousin E has three dolls and my other cousin L has three dolls. That means in one trip to AG we are shopping for 13 American Girl Dolls and 5 separate people. This rule means that each of us can only have ONE outfit if we want everyone to have it. Also this defeats the purpose of the in store specials where if you spend X you get the outfit for Y amount of money. Now with these limits there is no reward to spend more money. Since according to this rule you are limited to 5 of the instore special.

    sparky:

"each person" has a limit of 5 of the same item. So if there are 5 of you going, you can get a total of 25 dolls, accessories, or outfits of the SAME item.

I still think you're covered and not to worry about it.

I also think it's great that they are limiting the purchases, but I don't think it will stop those that are the real power sellers on ebay of the AG items, and we all know who they are. And when I needed to, I did buy the Kailey swimsuit from one of them, but at least for a decent price.

For those people, they will just place back to back orders or walk into the store and go back in several times to get however many items they want.

Afterall, our country's economy is built on the free market, supply and demand, and they aren't really doing anything wrong either. Well, not technically.

I don't pay attention to this one, but my friend told me the same thing happened with BuildABear during xmas. Everyone wanted the Rudolph and it was selling for a lot of money during xmas. I had actually bought one for Diana for Xmas but we didn't go to get it "stuffed" till about 2 weeks later after the crowds had died down a bit. My friend told me I could've made a bundle on ebay before xmas had I sold it then. Who knew?
